The Wedding

Zas sat down beside Ezza on  he couch. She was looking down at the photos they had left from their big day.

“There’s not much left, but the photographer saved as much as he could. Raj is in everything.” Ezza said touching the photos she held. Zas chuckled.

“Did you expect it to go any other way Love? This is our family we’re talking about.” He said wrapping his arm around her.

It doesn’t change a thing about that day though. You were beautiful, and sexy. I’m a lucky man.

Ezza laughed. She remembered every detail of that day…

Zas stared at Ezza, she was beautiful today. Well she was beautiful most days, but today especially so. Surround by flowers from the arch, the blossoms seemed to almost outline and frame her, making it seem as if all of Earths nature itself agreed with him. Ezza smiled up at him, and squeezed his hands. The last of the guests were taking their seats, and the men they had hired to photograph and record everything were getting shots from all angles.

“Yara! Leave that camera alone.” Cameron whisper-shouted. He was trying to wrangle the kids in. He had just finished placing Tixxis on her chair beside Yara when he’d noticed that Yara had gotten off of his chair.

“I got him.” Akita’s and Diego shouted at the same time. The two men stopped heading for Yara and looked at each other. Cameron rolled his eyes and headed for Yara himself when neither man made to move.

“I’ll do it myself. Thanks for the help guys.” Cameron said heading towards Yara. He heard a giggle behind him, and looked back to find Xias slipped off his chair. Grabbing Yara he handed him off to Akita as he went chasing after Xias. After giving Diego Xias to hold he sat down to watch the ceremony.

“You are the most stubborn, surprisingly sweet, and highly entertaining man I know. We didn’t meet under the best of circumstances, but I knew from the moment that I saw you standing up for me that my life would never boring again. We’ve travelled what feels like whole universes together, and no matter what trouble I’ve found myself in, I knew you were always by my side with a welcoming touch, or kind word, sometimes a harsh truth, or an unwelcome reality check, but you were there. We started as unlikely friends and we’re ending as close family. We found a discovered a friend who is more like a brother and became an Aunt and an Uncle together. We have three beautiful children together, and I can’t wait to make more with you. I love you Sazarn Vajjer, and I count myself lucky that I met you, because that was one of the greatest days of my life.” Ezza said looking Zas in the eyes. She tried to pour everything she could into her words, memories from the past flowing through her mind.

“You heard her, we’re leaving. Got babies to make. Thanks for coming.” Zas said to the crowd. Ezza let out a groan and slapped him. Everyone in the crowd giggled, Nigel Su could be heard excitedly shouting: Baby! Once all the ruckus had died down, Zas turned to Ezza.

“I knew from the moment I saw you standing up for what you believed in against that huge mountain of a bully at our Academy that you were something special that was meant to be in my life. I just never knew how you would fit into it, and I could never have  imagined that it would turn out this way. You’ve always held my hand and had my back, running in the winds right beside me; but now you have my heart and soul, and I know that in this world or any other you will always be by my side. I love you Ezza Exipehl-no Vajjer.”

Ezza started to tear up as Zas looked at her. Zas started to panic, this is how all his relationships ended, always tears were the first step.

“I’m sorry Ezza, I didn’t mean to make you cry. I was just trying to tell you how I feel. Ugh, I can’t believe I messed this up. Please don’t go, don’t leave.” Zas whispered the last part desperately. Ezza shook her head to worked up to say anything at the moment.

“I’d cry if I had to look at your ugly mug everyday too.” Diego shouted out. Cameron whistled and the rest of the crowd followed with laughter.

“Mamma, hungry.” Xias said.

Ezza laughed finally able to make noise.

“Yes, let’s eat.” Ezza said wiping under her eyes. She turned to go, when Zas grabbed her hand and pulled her back in for a kiss. When he pulled back, Ezza stared at him in astonishment.

You kiss on this planet to seal the deal.

Ezza heard him and smiled as the crowd cheered, and then started heading towards the main building for the rest of the festivities.

Cameron settled the Todd’s onto the benches at the gazebo. He handed each of them a plate of the wedding cake, and offered up prayers that the sugar overload wouldn’t ruin his night later when it was bed time.

“Everybody comfy? You have your cake? Good.” He said sitting down on the bench to enjoy his slice. He looked at the children and smiled, and then looked up at the sky. He could remember his wedding to Akita; the fast paced ceremony they had while running from the enemy. Wincing at the bittersweet memory he felt sadness, but also joy for his friends.

“Uh-oh” Xias said. Cameron looked over at him, he’d dropped his cake off his plate and onto the floor. Actually it looked like the cake had slammed into his face several times, rubbed up against his shirt a dozen more , jumped up into his hair and then exploded onto his lap before landing on the floor. Cameron sighed and got his clean wipes.

“It’s okay my Trixie Pixie number 2. I’ll have you all cleaned up and right as rain. Just like I do your father. You remind me a lot of him.” Cameron said poking Xias’s nose with his fingertip. Xias giggled.

After checking to make sure they were all cleaned up, he sat back down. Things were going to change. He could feel it in his bones.

“Listen up my rambunctious lovelies. Your uncle Cameron is about to impart some worldly wisdom.” Cameron started.

“Right, wisdom. Mommy and Daddy have taken a magical turn for the better, and life couldn’t be sweeter; but life isn’t always fun and no matter what happens you have to be there for each other. In good and bad times, because that’s the only way you’ll make it. Do you understand my Lovelies?” Cameron looked at each of them in turn.

“Poddy” Tixxis said. Inwardly Cameron sighed. He hoped they got it.

“Yes, yes. The princess has to potty. Can’t have her peeing on the grass or anything.” Cameron said picking up Tixxis. Then he started down the stairs to the hall. The boys following along, Xias eating the cake smeared on his hands the whole way.

“Look all I’m saying is, you are one hell of a strong woman, and you could’ve done a whole lot better.” Diego said to Ezza. People at the bar started laughing and calling out agreement. He patted Ezza hand. “ I’m kidding of course, but I’m happy for you. Zas is a wonderful man and I hope you two are sickeningly happy for the rest of your lives.” He raised his glass and the whole bar toasted to Zas and Ezza.

“Well, I had to choose him. If I didn’t, he’d whine me to death.” Ezza said with a wink to Zas. There was laughter from the guests. Zas made a pouty face, and when Ezza caught it she beckoned him over and gave him a kiss. The whole crowd whistled and Zas smiled gloatingly.

He was about crack a joke in his theatrical style when he felt a tug on his pants. Looking down he saw Nigel Su.

“What’s wrong?” He asked bending down.

“I poop.” Nigel Su said. Zas quickly stood back up.

He looked over at Ezza who had a smirk on her face and motioned for him to go. Diego chuckled and called her a task master. Sighing Zas picked up Nigel Su and changed him, then gave him a quick hug and put him down. Just as he straightened up he saw Cameron come out of the washrooms with the trips.

“Well were all on empty now.” Cameron said. Yeahy! He thought. Now we can start all over for a few minutes. Ezza chuckled and gave each of them a kiss before chasing after the children and making them giggle.

Ezza, exhausted sat down beside Cameron as Zas took over chasing the children around in an attempt to wear them out.

“Hey Pretty Baby. How does it feel to marry beneath you?” Cameron asked with a smile on his face. Ezza gave him a light slap and laughed.

“I didn’t marry beneath me. It feels wonderful, and someday it’ll happen for you too. Have faith.” She said squeezing his arm. Cameron smiled weakly back.

“It already did and it doesn’t always last. But for you, I’m sure whatever god your people pray to will watch over you.” Cameron said.

“Many, many gods, and I’m sure they’re looking out for you too.” She said smiling.

“We’re back.” Zas said collapsing in a chair behind them. The children had crawled up on the couch and were eating cake now.

“You gave them more sugar? Correct me if I’m wrong Muffin, but wasn’t the point of the chases to wear them out?” Now they’re going to be extra hyper!” Cameron was practically whisper shouting the last part, as Zas got up to get a drink.

“It’s no good. Can’t be worn out. Them, not me. I’m about to pass out. So now its plan B. Overload the beggars until their systems go into shock and they close down.” Zas said tiredly. Ezza started to laugh.

“Good ol’ plan B.” She said, remembering some of Zas’s other plan B’s. When Cameron looked at her quizzically, she smiled. “He relies a lot on plan B’s.”

After relaying some of Zas’s more unorthodox plan B’s, Cameron walked away to find better company with saner frames of mind, while Zas and Ezza did some dancing, among other caresses and kisses.

Towards the end of the night, a loud crash could be heard from one of the back rooms. Ezza, Zas, Cameron, and crowd of nosy onlookers went walking towards the sound.

“What happened!?” The camera man yelled. Xias and Yara were sitting in a pile of cameras the had fallen off of the table they were on.

“Uh oh.” Xias said. Yara looked at him and then picked one up and held towards the camera man.

“See me. See me.” He said. The camera man took the camera and looked at it. The screen was busted, but as long as the SD card was alright…nope busted. He checked the cameras while the 3 parents checked over the kids.

“I’m not going to lie. Most of my equipment is busted including the cards, but I’ll salvage what I can.” He said dejectedly.

“We’ll pay for replacements and thank you. I’m so sorry this happened to you.” Zas said leading him past the crowd that was still gawking as Ezza and Cameron disciplined the children.

“Still looking at photos?” Cameron asked, as he came into the living room. Ezza nodded yes.

“It’s all good. At least we have some of them, and we always have our memories.” Zas said squeezing Ezza into his side. She nodded and smiled back. Cameron waved goodbye and left for work. The two of them sat there a moment finishing looking at the last of the photos.

“Is it quiet to you?” Ezza asked. Zas straightened up and listened.

“Yes!” He yelled while running towards the back yard.

“I have the rooms,” Ezza called out as she ran towards the children’s bedroom.
