The Marking
Zas felt Ezza shift next to him in the bed. He started rearranging the blankets over Ezza in his half-asleep state to make sure she was covered. Now that she was entering into her second trimester she needed more of the blankets.
It had been a crazy few months since Christmas; mainly because of his mouth and slow moving brain.
“What do you mean, No?” Ezza asked, she was hurt. How could he not want their child. Zas watched in a panic as anger started replacing the hurt.
“No, it’s not what I meant,” he tried to clarify.
“Oh? I think you made yourself very clear.” Ezza said angrily. Zas was bout to say more when Nigel Su woke up and started screaming. Cameron excused himself, and although he didn’t run, he did walk rather quickly to Nigel Su’s room.
“Ezza, I’m just in shock. I mean, this is so sudden.” Zas said into the frosty silence. Ezza just stared at him.
“I don’t know if I’m ready to be a Father, I mean Mates, I’m struggling to figure out how to be a good partner to you.” Zas said honestly. At the moment he felt very lost and he didn’t like feeling this way.
“I love you, and I’m trying not to be hurt. It just wasn’t what I expected when I thought of telling you. You need time, I understand. Take all the time you need, then let me know when you decide to start being a man instead of a child.” Ezza finished coldly as she went outside to her garden. Zas slapped himself in the face and sighed. Stupid, stupid, stupid, he thought.
“Is she gone? Coast clear?” Cameron asked carrying Nigel Su into the room.
“Yes.” Zas said. He wasn’t sure how to fix this one.
“So…has she decided to leave you? Nigel Su could use a Mother.” Cameron said with a smirk.
“Shut up.” Zas said as he went into the office, he need sometime to figure out how to fix this.
Life went back to being hectic after Christmas, and slightly on the cold side for Zas. Cameron and Ezza spent a lot their time looking after Nigel Su, who was growing at a rapid pace. Ezza also spent a lot of her time with Pepper, the puppy. When asked why she named her that, Ezza said it was because Pepper sneezed like she had sniffed pepper.
Zas helped her train Pepper to pee outside, and how not to wake people up. After all there was hardly anytime to sleep as it was. He also tried to get back in Ezza’s good graces. He explained it was just shock, he rubbed her back, he cooked all her favourite foods. Slowly she started thawing.
Zas was snapped out of his memories when Ezza cuddled closer. Opening his eyes a bit he looked at her as she slept. He loved her pale violet skin, and flowing white hair. The vibrant markings around her face proclaiming her achievements made him smile, but the marking on her lips, saying she was his Pairing made him the proudest. Reaching out he smiled as he traced his finger over their Pairing marking.
Wait a minute.
Zas’s eyes widened and he out of bed. Why was Ezza in her natural form? Zas honestly didn’t mind, she was beautiful. However, why was her suit malfunctioning? Ezza sighed in her sleep and started to roll over.
“Zas? What’s going on?” She asked sleepily. She sat up slowly, the blanket slid down her suit. Her stomach was very large. Zas’s eyes widened.
“Nothing, everything.” Zas said very quickly.
