Decor is the Ultimate Home Battle

“No! Get out! Zas! Come get the Pretty Baby before I do something we’ll all regret!” Cameron yelled down the hall, as he used his arms to block Ezza’s way into his room. The horrors she would enact in his room would not be forgiven.

“Don’t be silly Cameron. Just let me help you.” Ezza said in what she thought was a soothing voice, as she struggled to push her way through. Cameron redoubled his efforts to keep her out while trying not to hurt her. His room was his sanctuary, she was not touching it. Zas came out of the office and made his way down the hall to where Cameron was pushing Ezza away, even as she tried to force her way in.

“Guys, come on. I’m trying to write my column for work.” Zas said imploring them.

“I would love to stop Muffin, but this is my personal space and I like the way it is. She’s trying to change that.” Cameron said matter of factly.

“It’s all red. Red. All of it.” Ezza said turning to address Zas. “It looks like a Bordello.”

“Excuse you?” Cameron asked incredulously. “It is tastefully done in shades of red and white. Classy, and besides, ITS MINE.” Cameron said with finality.

“Come Love. Let’s leave Cameron and his room alone.” Zas said steering Ezza away from Cameron. Ezza went with a few protests, which Zas tried to quell.

It had been a few months since they had moved in. As they had discussed for a bit more rent, they were allowed to change the house, but had to keep up it’s maintenance. They had dedicated one room to use as an office space, Ezza and Zas shared a room, and Cameron had his own. Ezza had taken to decorating the whole house, which meant it was very colourful. As Cameron had said when she started ‘it was almost like living in an Easter egg.’

She had also taken over the whole backyard. She had finally planted that stump, and it had flourished almost impossibly fast under care.

Unfortunately it took up way more room then they had thought, so Ezza had planted all her seeds from their old house, planted and then grafted onto each other. It meant fewer produce, but they still had everything and Ezza could work on it as she saw fit.

The side yard had a wash tub and clothesline now; no more laundry mats. Zas had thought they should get a washer, but Ezza insisted on using the tub.

The exterior had changed as well. They had changed the blue outside for a wood exterior, and of course thanks to Ezza’s touch there was greenery everywhere. They had bought some wind chimes and a bird feeder to make it feel more tranquil. All in all, life was good.

It was also busy. Their second day there, a bunch of neighbours had stopped by to welcome to them to the neighbourhood. Geeta, Zas already knew from work, but he finally met Raj, the love of her life. It also turned out that Cameron knew one of their neighbours, Arun. He worked with him, and his wife, Jesminder, was a chef. All in all they had a good time, and at the end they decided to get together another time.

Cameron had also been chosen for The Intelligence Program by the Council. He was quite proud of that fact. He spent most of his time in a worried, but pleased state. He also spent most of his free time hacking, almost as if to prove he belonged in that program. Unfortunately no matter where he hacked, he couldn’t seem to find any information about the W.E.B.B.I.N.G.

Zas and Ezza had gone back to the Forgotten Grotto several times to collect samples.

They had also caught several new types of new fish. It tickled Ezza pink, and allowed Zas to try out a few new dishes. All in all life in their new residence was peaceful and full, except one thing: Ezza’s taste in decor.

“I’m just saying, it’s all red. All of it.” Ezza said as she pulled weeds in the garden. Zas sighed, they’d been talking about this ever since this morning.

“So he likes the colour red. It’s his room, let him do it red if he wants.” Zas said.

“The rest of the house is so pretty, and colourful. Anyone who sees his room will wonder what happened. It’s like a red void in our house, sucking in all the colours and turning them into a red blur.” Ezza said, finishing the weeding. She dusted herself off and headed towards the bird feeder to fill it.

“It’s also his room. His personal space. How would you like someone to come into our room and change it however they felt?” Zas asked her in a last-ditch effort.

“They wouldn’t dare!” Ezza said affronted.

“Isn’t that what you’re doing to Cameron? You have the whole house, and he only has that one little room, and you’re trying to take it from him.” Zas explained.

“Yeah.” Ezza said. Sighing she started heading back to the house.

“Where are you going?” Zas called out to her.

“To apologize.” Ezza called back.

Ah, family life is good, Zas thought sitting back.

So, another Thank You is needed for this chapter. See I love gardening, but after having moved to San MyShuno none of my plants worked from before, and I became lazy. So, I went gallery hoping and thanks to the following talented people who put in the time, I had my garden back, only better. So, Thank you to: Willowana for the Spliced Emotion Berries, Godzilla-Force for Mcrudds Spliced Plants, and last but not least, TheNUBalicious for the Spliced Catnip Plant. You saved me so much time and stress. Thank-you!

I was laughing my head off imagining Cameron protecting his own “Bordello” space. Although I can imagine how she feels too, with kids and all who want crazy colours in their room. Except I at least own this house….I’m glad she apologized at the end.
