Strange Salads

Day Eight
Waking up this morning, Greta noticed a new machine in her house. Wondering what it was, she went to look at it and discovered it was the gem cutting machine she had ordered. Gasping in shock, she wondered when it had been brought in! She hadn’t heard anyone come in, surely she would have noticed. Oh no! Was she drooling when they came in!? How unattractive, wait… Why did she care? Smiling, she did her morning routine and went to go outside.
After checking on the chickens, and gathering the eggs, Greta waded out into the water. She decided to start in another spot. She managed to collect three shells before it started to storm. Thinking she had better start heading in before she started doing the dead man’s float for the rest of her life, she noticed something glinting far below her. Making a mental note to check it out tomorrow, she carried on her way finding more gems, shells, and another space rock.
One foot on shore, and the storm stopped. Really!? Ugh, oh well there was always tomorrow. Checking on the chickens one last time, she found more eggs. Poor things, they must have had the eggs scared right out of them. Even that evil chicken (which Greta had decided to name Charles,) wasn’t making much noise. Teasing him a little bit and knowing that she’d pay for it when he was feeling better, she headed downstairs to play with her new toy.
It was AMAZING! So, easy to use. Talk about a breeze! She cut all the gems she had found over the last few days and sent them to be sold. Inside, Greta decided to make herself a green salad with a few of the plant leaves she had found scattered on the island.
Feeling full, and satisfied with her ingenuity, Greta started heading to bed. Funny, she didn’t remember the walls melting and dipping in like that before. Where did all the ugly pink bunnies come from? Why was there a raccoon laughing at her!? Stupid raccoon! She’d show it today! Lunging for it, Greta fell flat on her face, and into a deep slumber. Her last thought was: Please let me wake up, I still have to teach that raccoon a lesson.
